Zola came into my life via a distress call from a friend. It was the rainy season in South Florida, where an abandoned and very pregnant dog was being fed on the street. I was called in and asked if I could provide a safe and dry place for her to have her litter.

The rescue was by no means an easy one, as this gentle creature was terrified and most likely confused as to my intentions. We named her Goldie.

After an entire week of healing, grooming and massaging her, Goldie finally gave birth to ten beautiful puppies. It was quite a moving experience to witness such wholeness radiating from a being who, just a short time ago, was cowering in complete fear.

I would daily massage her belly during the pregnancy focusing on one little life inside which I knew I would end up keeping. Zola was then loved before she actually made her entrance into the physical.
